Why Zillow Isn't the Whole Story

Friends Don't Let Friends Zillow

Zillow can be a helpful starting point when browsing homes online, but it's important to understand what it is (and what it isn't). Zillow is powered by algorithms, not local expertise. It doesn't account for things like land value, the neighborhood, zoning considerations, condition details or market-specific trends. In short, it's not a true reflection of the local market.

We recently had clients tell us they found a home on Zillow and even scheduled a showing directly through the app. What many buyers don't realize is that the agents who respond to those inquiries pay to be featured. While they may be licensed, they are not always local experts and frequently have limited knowledge of the property, the area or the factors that impact the value. In one recent case, a Zillow-assigned agent simply unlocked the door, couldn't answer questions and didn't follow up. That's when the buyers reached out to us.

Before ever stepping foot on that same property, our team took the time to study the land, the home, hidden features, the area and comparable sales. We connected with the listing agent, gathered critical details and came prepared to educate our clients fully so they could make a confident, informed decision and write a fair, competitive offer.

Buying a home is one of the largest financial decisions many people will ever make. You deserve more than an app or a door being unlocked. You deserve a real estate professional who walks beside you, answers your questions, anticipates challenges and brings in trusted local experts when needed. That level of care is why more than 90% of our business comes from referrals and why we are honored to serve our clients at the highest level.

If you have questions, are seeing something online or simply want to understand the market better, we're always here to help.
